Enjoy a romantic dinner for two in the chic dining area, or step through the front door that sits to the side of the owner’s property and have an intimate al fresco dinner in the dedicated garden area. After dinner, snuggle up by the wood burner in the lounge and catch up on your favourite TV shows. At the end of the day, retire to the lovely king-size bedroom set in the eaves (please note that there are some areas of restricted height in this space). Visit Sherborne Abbey (6.5 miles) to admire its soaring ceilings and stained-glass windows, which date back to the 15th century. You can also wander among the tombs of historic figures, from the Saxon kings Ethelbald and Elthelbert, to the poet Thomas Wyatt and the explorer Sir Walter Raleigh. Alternatively, head to Montacute House (11 miles) – a magnificent Elizabethan mansion with beautiful gardens. It’s a great spot for a romantic picnic.
